Official Texas CPA Swearing In Ceremony, Austin TX

After a fun filled week of San Antonio Riverwalk, SeaWorld, seeing Wade and his girlfriend, San Marcos Outlets, Round Rock outlets and catching up with the Newtons we drove to downtown Austin. Ryan's parents had driven down for the occasion as well. Ryan and about 600 others were sworn in to be certified public accountants. He was one of the 20 out of the 600 that passed all four sections on the first try!!!!!! Yahoo. You would think it would have been a lot of people his age but he was a lot younger than the average. There was even a man that was 73 years old! This is a picture of him swearing in (he was definitely the hottest guy there!). I tried to post other pictures but it is just not working.........I will try to put some more up later on :)

We Are Small
There has been many times in my life when I am struck with just how great and how awesome God is. I remember clearly one of those times was when I really got to know Ryan and we had been dating for a while. I had given up trying to find the ‘right one’ and gave God complete control over my dating arena. Then he brought Ryan into my life. After a while, I realized that Ryan had everything that I had on my “list of things my husband should have” and then the little things that I never said aloud, that only God knew. It was so sweet and a special gift to me from God! Lately we have had one of those moments again as we bought our first house.
It has been a long process…..We probably looked at over 60 houses, 350 online just to check it out and see if we want to see it and almost 4 offer/bidding process. We made a list of the things that we really needed and really wanted. As time went on this list changed some but mostly remained the same. Not only did God provide everything on our list, he provided the little things that we knew we probably weren’t going to get like a big shower for two, a cute backyard with an arbor and 4 bedrooms, one story! About a week prior of constantly searching, updating the Ebby Halliday website hourly to see if something new and perfect has shown up it struck us both. We thought we were going to find the perfect house for us. We thought that we had this thing down and we will find it and it will be great. We were wrong. We started praying a different prayer, not that we would find if, but that God would have His way in this house buying challange. That He could have control over the home-finding process. Then, a week later, our realtor randomly searching found a house that she thought would be great for us (most of the houses we saw Ryan and I found by long drives in our fav neighborhoods and searching online). It was perfect for us. It had everything we needed and wanted and then the little things that we never thought we were going to get! It’s like the moment we finally relinquish all control to God he is provides exactly what we need! We are so so small and we serve such a BIG BIG God and yet we constantly trying to keep control of our lives instead of surrendering EVERYTHING to him. I love times like this when I am reminded that I am small and that God wants our best, and all that we are. We are SO blessed and so excited about this next, new, little looney adventure. Soon I will post pics so you can see the house. I am still working on the pic posting process J We are going to close on July 19th……More news to come!

May Madness!
To sum up this past month in two words it would be MAY MADNESS. Luckily, with the madness came lots of great times and fun memories. First, Ryan got his official CPA license (which is a very hard and lengthy process)! So, I decided to celebrate we should have a lil’ dessert bash at our place. We haven’t hosted a big party before so it was fun to finally put all of the wedding platters and stands to use! We had a packed house at one point with family, friends from our community group and friends from my school. We had a wide variety of fun desserts including a fantastic little chocolate fountain (yes, we are very classy). It was so much fun and I know that Ryan really enjoyed it.
Two weeks later it was my turn. I was voted as Mendenhall’s Beginning Teacher of the Year. Yahoo. With this honor came lots of random festivities. We had a party after school at a colleagues house, a breakfast at had our picture taken with our star (the theme was ‘On the Red Carpet’ Hollywood style) by the ‘paparazzi’ and the grand finale was P.I.S.D. Teacher Gala that went along with the theme. Plano does an awesome job at recognizing its teachers. The Gala was remarkable! I got to invite guests so Ryan, Ryan’s parents, my mom and Bok (grandma) and some of my third grade team came as well. It was wonderfully decorated with huge centerpieces, a beautifully decorated stage, that all went with the theme. I got a goody bag with lots of coupons, gift cards and other things, the best part though was the 500 dollar check.
We both have been so blessed by our jobs and community we have built with the people we work with. I love my third grade team and school SO MUCH and could never imagine leaving. Ryan has been stretched and grown so much since we moved here on his different jobs and is becoming an amazing auditor (one day it will be called Ernst and Looney).

The Lunch Trend
Ryan and I are blest to have friends all over the country. Often times when I don't have papers to grade or kids to tutor I catch up with the news of my friends by checking thier blogs! I love seeing what God is doing in thier lives and pictures of what is going on. Since most people still think that Ryan and I are living in New York, I decided that a blog would be a great to keep people updated with the randomness of the Looney Life.
For those we have not spoken to in a while we are living it up in Plano, Texas. Ryan is still with the firm and I am working as a 3rd grade teacher. We have gotten plugged into a church after the long search. We became instantly attached to our community group and look forward to going through life with them.
Hopefully I will try and keep up this blog better than emails :)
